  1. People choose wallets, and trading algos — the connection is not lose at all.
  2. You forgot about developers who write the code handling the bitcoin protocol. They can change the protocol (if they build big enough consensus — like was the case in Ethereum) — this is an important connection. And there is a community of developers.
  3. You forgot miners — they chose the code running the protocol.
  4. In a more general argument it is quite clear that bitcoin is not something that runs independently from humanity — the network uses inputs from humans: code, mining processors, electricity. Nothing stops humans from organizing themselves into communities around the cryptocurrencies they use and govern them by governing their inputs.
