- People choose wallets, and trading algos — the connection is not lose at all.
- You forgot about developers who write the code handling the bitcoin protocol. They can change the protocol (if they build big enough consensus — like was the case in Ethereum) — this is an important connection. And there is a community of developers.
- You forgot miners — they chose the code running the protocol.
- In a more general argument it is quite clear that bitcoin is not something that runs independently from humanity — the network uses inputs from humans: code, mining processors, electricity. Nothing stops humans from organizing themselves into communities around the cryptocurrencies they use and govern them by governing their inputs.
